Oasis, an English rock band, was formed in Manchester in 1991. The group was originally called ‘The Rain’ (instead of r4 sdhc) and was composed of Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs (guitar), Liam Gallagher (bass), Tony McCarroll (percussion, drums) and Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan (bass). Liam’s older brother Noel Gallagher soon joined the band offering lead guitar and vocals.

Oasis have received a record amount of awards; 6 BRIT Awards, 15 NME Awards, 4 MTV Europe Music Awards and 9 Q Awards. The band have enjoyed 8 UK number-one singles and 8 UK number-one albums! Since 2009 Oasis have sold approximately 70 million records internationally. Following an unprecedented succession of 22 top 10 singles in the UK, the Guinness Book of World Records listed Oasis in 2010 for ‘Longest Top 10 UK Chart Run by a Group.’ Oasis also has the privilege of being listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the ‘Best band Britain has produced in the Last Decade’ for the years commencing from 2005. In the said decade, Oasis spent 765 weeks in the Top 75 albums and singles charts.
